PatTask
Support

PatTask runs on iOS and iPadOS 17 or later. It uses Apple Reminders as the place your tasks are stored, and requires no account registration and no servers of ours.

Where this page says “Settings”, open it from the “…” at the top right of the task screen. Task list, Launcher and Notifications are in the same menu. If you use larger text, those buttons appear in a row instead of the “…”.

Tasks aren't showing

1. In the iOS Settings app, go to Privacy & Security → Reminders and allow PatTask.
2. Open PatTask's settings and check that Apple Reminders under Access says it can read and write.
3. Pull the task screen down and release to reload.

Events aren't showing

Calendar permission is optional. To show events, allow full access to Calendars in iOS Settings, then turn on “Show related events on the task screen” under Task screen in PatTask's settings.

If only certain calendars are missing, check “Calendars to show” in PatTask's settings. A calendar turned off there appears on neither the board nor the calendar (the events themselves are not deleted).

Attachments, updates or memos aren't visible on another device

• Check that both devices are signed in to iCloud with the same Apple Account.
• In the Settings app, under Apple Account → iCloud, check that iCloud is enabled for PatTask.
• Once you're back online, tap “Sync attachments now” in PatTask's settings.
• Attachments already saved on the device open even while iCloud sync is pending.
• By default, videos are only sent and fetched over Wi-Fi. To allow cellular as well, change it under “Sync over” in Settings. An attachment being held back shows the reason and a “Download now” button when you open it.

An attachment on an individual update is stored in the same place as one attached to the task. Audio recorded with “Record” on the add screen, or “Record audio” from the clip in the update field (up to five minutes each), is handled just like a photo or file.

A memo line isn't on the board

A memo reaches the board through its body lines. Press and hold a line and choose "Make This a Task", or start the line with "/task". Doing so turns that line's text and dates into an Apple Reminders task, so Reminders permission is required ("More" → "Settings" → "Access"). The text and attachments stay in the memo. A memo as a whole is never given a date.

Removing a task from a line

Tap the date at the end of the line (or press and hold the line and choose "This Line's Task") to open the date screen, then use "Remove Task" at the bottom. The circle and the date disappear and the line becomes ordinary text again — the sentence stays. To clear only the dates, set "Start" and "Due" to none.

The bottom tabs are missing Calendar or Memos

Under “Bottom tabs” in Settings you can show, hide and reorder Calendar and Memos. Tasks can't be hidden.

A task won't go into the In progress lane

In progress holds three tasks. When it's full, move one back to another lane or complete it first. On the focus screen, tasks in In progress are listed at the top.

Changing the appearance

In PatTask's settings, under “Appearance & calendar” → “Appearance”, choose Match device, Light or Dark.

Focus notifications aren't arriving

In iOS Settings → Notifications → PatTask, allow notifications. Even without permission, the in-app timer and Live Activity still work. Whether it appears on the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island is set under “Focus” → “Show on Lock Screen and Dynamic Island”.

The chime at the end of a focus session or break sounds while the app is open, even on silent. To turn it off, use “Play a chime at the end” under Focus. When the app is closed, a notification tells you instead.

Task notifications aren't arriving, or arrive twice

Check “PatTask notifications” at the top of PatTask's settings. Receiving them from PatTask requires iOS notification permission. If both PatTask's and Apple Reminders' notifications are on, the same task alerts you twice. If one is enough, turn Reminders' notifications off in iOS Settings.

About deletion

Deleting a task in Apple Reminders removes it from PatTask too. “Delete all PatTask data” in PatTask's settings deletes in-progress and on-hold marks, hold reasons and follow-up dates, subtask relationships, related events, work blocks, updates, focus records, attachments, urgent alarms, launcher shortcuts, memos and their attachments, and projects. The tasks themselves are not deleted.

A memo can be deleted by swiping right on it in the list, or by pressing and holding. It stays in the Trash for 30 days, where you can restore it or delete it permanently from “Library view” → “Trash”. Deleting a project does not delete the tasks, events or memos linked to it.

Because this cannot be undone, confirmation has two stages, and the second cannot be pressed until twenty seconds have passed. If the attachments in iCloud cannot be deleted, nothing is deleted and you are told so. If the process stops partway, what was deleted is named explicitly.

Deleting the PatTask app leaves your Apple Reminders tasks and their notifications untouched.

The free trial and purchasing

The first 14 days from the day you install PatTask are a free trial with no restrictions. When it ends, adding and changing tasks, events, memos and projects stops. Reading what you have, and stopping a focus session, both carry on. Nothing you made before then is lost.

To keep using it, there is a one-time purchase — not a subscription. The trial is tied to your Apple Account, so deleting and reinstalling does not start it over.

If you change devices or reinstall, use “Restore Purchase” on the purchase screen or under Purchase in Settings. With the same Apple Account you don't need to buy again. If restoring finds no purchase record, check that the Apple Account in use with the App Store is the one you bought with.
